His death just last week of organ failure followed six months of struggle with pancreas and liver cancer, chemotherapy and health services.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2287 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dorothea.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/alexeiblinov.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A fabulous circle of friends enveloped him with love and support throughout, not least in respect of his creative drive and fierce intellect, but for the huge sense of fun and selflessness he encouraged in all who knew him. A very special friend indeed. A public <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/476513022989461\/\">Transition Celebration<\/a> is planned for Sunday 15th December at one of Alexei\u2019s favourite bars, Strongroom in Shoreditch London 3-10pm, please come early and celebrate his life and times.. together! A sensational gathering of friends and family shared in the unique celebration of his life and times. As founder of <a title=\"Experimental film\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Experimental_film\">experimental<\/a> new media organisation &#8220;<a class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/raylab.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Raylab<\/a>&#8221; he has collaborated with a number of creative artists including <a title=\"Jamie Reid\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jamie_Reid\">Jamie Reid<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He was trained as a doctor before moving to the UK. In the early 1990s he specialised in large scale high quality <a class=\"new\" title=\"Laser projections (page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Laser_projections&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">laser projections<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> Since the late 1990s he has produced a wide variety of interactive audio-visual installations. Over the past few years, he has been the creative force behind many interactive audio-visual art projects in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Between 1993 and 1996 he worked extensively in the <a title=\"Netherlands\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Netherlands\">Netherlands<\/a>, creating laser projections for <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Scientific\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Scientific\">scientific<\/a> events, music and arts festivals and for <a title=\"Dance\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dance\">dance<\/a> companies. Since 1997 he has worked mainly in the UK creating interactive <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Audio-visual\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Audio-visual\">audio-visual<\/a> <a title=\"Installation art\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Installation_art\">installations<\/a> at a number of important art galleries including the <a title=\"Institute of Contemporary Arts\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Institute_of_Contemporary_Arts\">ICA<\/a>, London and the <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Barbican Art Centre\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barbican_Art_Centre\">Barbican Art Centre<\/a>, London. Collaborations include <a class=\"new\" title=\"Ciron Edwards (page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Ciron_Edwards&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Ciron Edwards<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>From 2006-2016 he led the technical development for feature film <i><a title=\"Dau (film)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dau_(film)\">Dau<\/a><\/i> \u2013 life and times of physicist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1728616\/\">Lev Landau<\/a>, on set in the Ukrainian border city Kharkov where he revisited many period experiments and engineered his own to feature in the film. The movie is one of <a title=\"Russia\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Russia\">Russia&#8217;s<\/a> largest and most controversial cinematic projects to date.<\/p>\n<p>He engaged with new media projects based on wireless networking such as <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"WiFi\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/WiFi\">WiFi<\/a>, and was a well known and respected I\/O specialist with a passion for high voltage and radio frequency experimentation. Blinov researched electro stimulation of neural feedback and <a title=\"Blockchain\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blockchain\">blockchain<\/a> resourcing.<\/p>\n<p>He has exhibited a selection of these HT experiments including the \u2018Hairpin Circuit\u2019 at Moscow University. A set of spectacular arctic ICE core holographic images were recently exhibited in St Petersburg.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside Ilze Black<sup id=\"cite_ref-3\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup> and <a class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/www.1010.co.uk\/org\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Martin Howse<\/a>, he was a member of <a class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/take2030.net\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">TAKE2030<\/a>, a brave new media society that operated in parallel net media scheme. The London based collective produced public art projects, shifting social network missions into hypermedia playing fields. Past projects include RichAir2030, UK, EU (2003-2004) and Lets do Lunch, London (2005). Blinov had deep ties with the Open Wireless Network community between Moscow, London and Berlin, collaborating with <a title=\"Jamie Reid\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jamie_Reid\">Jamie Reid<\/a>, <a class=\"new\" title=\"Empress Stah (page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Empress_Stah&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Empress Stah<\/a>, <a title=\"Shu Lea Cheang\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shu_Lea_Cheang\">Shu Lea Cheang<\/a>, <a class=\"new\" title=\"Nancy Mauro-Flude (page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Nancy_Mauro-Flude&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Nancy Mauro-Flude<\/a> and many others.<\/p>\n<p>He died on 26 November 2019 following complications from pancreatic cancer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our main focus of recent months has been fixed on plight of beloved droog and long term collaborator Alexei Blinov.
